In The Field Museum's public exhibits on Africa, visitors discover for themselves the interconnections illuminated by research, as well as the fascination and beauty of collections. Adults and children from diverse backgrounds also explore these ideas and objects through formal and informal education programs (including an in-exhibit resource center). Every year, Chicago's communities celebrate Africa's contributions to the world during the Museum's African Heritage Festival. Changing its theme from year to year, this popular event has highlighted subjects as diverse as African influences on American music and the sacred arts of Haitian vodou.
