John Flynn is working to unravel the mystery of when and how the Andes Mountains formed, and how their formation affected the ecology and evolution of mammals, the climate, and geography of the southern hemisphere. John studies geologic time and movements of the earth's crust to understand the history of some of the most biologically rich areas on Earth.

John Flynn was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, and studied at Yale University and Columbia University.
