ORDER—INSECTIVORA
FAMILY—Soricidae

COMMON NAME—Indochinese shrew.

DISTRIBUTION—Widespread on Asian continent and many associated shallow-water islands.  In the Philippines, known only from Batan Island, Batanes Province (USNM; Heaney and Ruedi, 1994).

HABITAT—Common and widespread in Asia; its ecology unknown in the Batanes group of islands.

STATUS—Abundant and stable in continental Asia but unknown in the Batanes group.
