ORDER—CHIROPTERA
FAMILY—Pteropodidae

COMMON NAME—Sibuyan pygmy fruit bat.

DISTRIBUTION—Philippines only; endemic to Sibuyan Island (FMNH; Goodman & Ingle, 1993).

HABITAT—Found in primary forest from near sea level to 1325 m on Sibuyan Island, not known from outside of primary forest (Goodman & Ingle, 1993).


STATUS—
Geographically restricted and subject to pressure from deforestation (Goodman & Ingle, 1993).

COMMENT—Genetically distinct from H. fischeri (Peterson & Heaney, 1993); currently being described by Goodman and Heaney.
