Tamatha Norment-Smith
Tamatha Norment-Smith was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. Mrs. Smith attended Chicago Vocational High School, and upon graduation, enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard where she served for ten years as a Medical Specialist and Staff Sergeant. Medical missions to Central and South America while with the U.S. Army afforded her the opportunity of lengthy stays in other countries and sparked an interest in the study of world cultures.

Mrs. Smith earned her BA in Anthropology at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1997. While earning her degree, she worked on two major Southwestern archaeological collections as an intern at The Field Museum, under the direction of Jonathan Haas. She is currently the assistant to Stephen Nash, director of the Paul Martin project. Mrs. Smith plans to continue her studies in North American Archaeology.
