The Librarys collections are available for public use on a non-circulating reference basis only. Borrowing privileges are reserved for Museum staff and associates. Visitors may also use reference materials, the card catalog, and new journals displayed in the Reading Room. All other collections are located in closed stacks. Visitors must submit a request for material to the staff member on duty for retrieval and use in the Reading Room. Please phone 312-665-7887 or email Harlow@fieldmuseum.org to check on the availability of any specific titles needed. A portion of the Librarys holdings may be searched in Harlow, our Online catalog. The Library also has two public access computers available for searching the Online catalog, Photo Archive database and the Web. Photocopies may be made for 15¢ per page. The charge is 25¢ per page for fragile items that require Library Staff assistance.
